What can happen when a workforce is empowered?
Psychological empowerment consists of the intrinsic feeling of motivation that health care providers must experience for empowerment interventions to be considered successful. Psychological empowerment is multi-dimensional, consisting of four main constructs.
Meaning is the health care provider's alignment with the goals, beliefs and values of the work place. Consider how much employees care about the work that they do?
Competence-belief (self-efficacy) - the degree an employee believes in themselves that they have the skills, knowledge and judgment to fulfill their work requirements.
Self-determination - the feeling of control or autonomy a health care provider feels they have over their workplace.
Impact - the extent that health care providers feel they are making a difference or positively influencing outcomes.
(Faulkner & Laschinger, 2008; Maynard, Gilson, & Mathieu, 2012; Smith, Andrusyszyn, & Laschinger, 2010)

Let's take a look at what might 'spin-off' from empowerment!
